Windsor Castle Tickets and Prices

Windsor Castle is one of the Royal Family's most prestigious residencies, along with the likes of Buckingham Palace in London and Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. On 19th May 2018, St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle played host to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. 
     
Built in the 11th century, the castle has been home to English royals for more than 1,000 years and is the longest-occupied palace in Europe.

Throughout its history, the Castle has been redecorated, enlarged and rebuilt.   Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has since been the home of 39 monarchs.

How long should I allow for my visit?

There’s a lot to see and do at Windsor Castle, so please allow enough time to make the most of your visit. We suggest between 2 ½ and 3 hours.

Can a pushchair be used at the Castle?

Pushchairs can be used around the Castle grounds, but will need to be checked in at the cloakroom near the entrance to the State Apartment before entering the rooms. They can be collected once you have finished touring the State Apartments.

Can I take pictures inside the Windsor Castle?

Photography and filming the including the use of wearable devices are not permitted inside the State Apartments or St. George’s Chapel. In consideration of other visitors, mobile phones must be switched off. Photography and filming for non-commercial purposes are encouraged in the outsides areas of the Castle Precincts.

Can I bring food or drink inside?

Eating and drinking are not permitted inside the State Apartments or St. George’s Chapel. You will be asked to place drinks and food in closed bags before being admitted to these areas of the Castle. Picnicking in the Castle grounds are not permitted. Water is available to purchase from the Castle shops. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in Windsor itself.
