Where can I ride in Chicago?

Chicago’s most popular museums, beaches, zoo and parks are easily accessible by bike and you’ll find that a bicycle is the perfect vehicle for touring and sightseeing. You can visit all the sites by riding safely on paths and trails.

What type of bike should I rent?

There are a wide range of bicycles from single speed cruisers perfect for a casual ride along Chicago’s beautiful lakefront to road bikes for longer distance rides. The most popular bike is a 24-speed comfort bicycle - a good all-around performer for cruising the lakefront.

Do I need to wear a helmet?

We strongly recommend that all of the participants wear a helmet. Wearing a properly fitted helmet reduces head injuries by 85% All participants under the age of 18 are required to wear a helmet.

What if it rains?

Bike and Roll Chicago reserves the right to cancel tours for safety concerns such as high winds, thunderstorms, excessive heat or cold, or other severe conditions. Rain ponchos will be provided and go out in light rain or drizzle. If Bike and Roll Chicago cancels the tour you may either reschedule or request a full refund. Weather is constantly monitored and they ask for a contact number to reach you so that you can be notified of any changes concerning your tour.

Can I bring my kids on the tour?

Yes, and it is highly recommended that you do! There are individual bikes for children 4’6” and taller, toddlers, and smaller children can ride behind a parent or guardian in trailer carriers or on trailer tandems that attach to adult bikes.

What is provided/included and what do I need to bring?

The cost of the tour includes the use of a comfort bike, helmet, a bottle of water, and a light snack. You might want to bring a camera since you’ll find lots of photo opportunities on tour. It is advised that you wear seasonally appropriate clothing (not too loose) and closed toe shoes. There is also sunscreen, sunglasses, and gloves available to purchase.
